For a week we shall be taking self-portraits. Looking to Annie Leibovitz for inspiration, we will be attempting to portray ourselves, not as snapshots, not as senior portraits, but as artistic expressions.
The following is required:
You will be turning in 3 self-portraits
They will ALL be in BLACK & WHITE
1 will use the Rule of thirds
1 will use leading lines
1 will be taken from an extreme angle
Must capture a mood
Must feel artistic, NOT snapshot, beauty shots etc.
No FACE ONLY: at least ½ your body or more.
You and you’re partner will be working together on this project.
YOU will be the model for YOUR grade
This means that the MODEL will be telling the photographer what to do.
Take a few photos, check them, and make adjustments.
ØWho is your subject?
ØWhat are you about?
ØWhat makes you different then everybody else?
ØHow do others view you?
ØHow do you view yourself?
ØHow could you create a “mood”
Where is the light and shadows?
What is the background?
What is the camera angle?
Where in the screen is the subject?
What is happening with the value or contrast?
Will you use props?
We will begin taking photos Monday.
Bring clothing, costumes, makeup, props, whatever your imagination can think of.(remember think black and white)
You will be photographing every day except wed (1/2 day)
Plan on taking lots and lots of photos, and choosing the best.
You are encouraged to take them at home, but that doesn’t excuse you from taking photos in class as well. A word of CAUTION--- if they don’t get to school in my infolder in time– you will deal with the consequences. So take photos outside and inside class! Lets see your artistic expressive sides!

This was the most dificult project ever.
The only self portrait that came out good to me was my rule of thirds picture.
The other were okay but if I had more time and a car then they might have come out better.
