Haunted Chavez

We are finally beginning our first project on your own that will combine photography and Photoshop. The theme is "Haunted Chavez". The idea is for each student to create a scene at school that could be in a scary movie, using the techniques and tools we have learned so far.

The following are instructions to help organize your thoughts and keep you on pace:

A. SETTING: Where will your scene take place? Think about your schedule and your school day. Where would make a good setting? When would you need to take this photo? During class? After school? You may need to talk to teachers or other employees to let you into certain areas when they are not being used.

B. MAIN CHARACTER: You must have a main character. Your main character will be your EMPHASIS. Also you will place them on the Rule of Thirds in your composition. Who are they? Is it You? Is it someone else? Are they good? Or are they Evil? What are they doing?

C. EXTRA CHARACTERS: You have to have at least one extra character, but you can have as many as you want. YOU have to be in your picture, however, you get to choose if you are the main character or an extra. Who are your extras? What are they doing? How do they add to your composition and over all mood? Remember when taking photos of your extras, take many shots from all angles to give you versatility when creating your image.

D. USING OUR TUTORIALS: You must use at least one tutorial we have used in class. Either the Ghost, Zombie, or Scary face. You are welcome to use all 3 or combine them however you like.

E. COMBINING PHOTOSHOP AND PHOTOGRAPHS: Everything you use in this image will be from photographs that you take. You will be combining your photos together into photoshop. You will begin by opening a preset 8 X 10 Photoshop, and pull your background onto it.

F. Work quickly and diligently.

These will be graded on the following:

COMPOSITION: Is your main character the EMPHASIS?
Are they placed appropriately on the Rule of thirds?
Does the rest of the composition work together?

CREATIVITY: How creative is your idea?
How far did you push your concept?
Is it surprising? Unique?

CRAFTSMANSHIP: NO blurry photographs. PERIOD.
What are your edges like?
Do your combined photos look silly or realistic?
Do your effects add to the art or take away from it?

COMPLETE: Is it complete?
Do you have the following?: A main character as your emphasis at the rule of thirds, at least one extra character-if not more, use of at least one of the tutorials, file format of 8 x 10?

Good Luck! You are on your own with this one!!
